Alpha

Jacqui Briscoe (01606 836460) runs our Alpha

course which is a great start in the Christian

faith.  Courses run twice a year.  If you are

interested in discovering more about Church,

God and Jesus this is the best place to start.

Christianity Explored

Rev Liz Woode runs our Christianity Explored

course for all those who have completed

Alpha.  It covers much of the same ground as

Alpha but is focused on St Mark’s Gospel and gets people going on Bible study.  Contact Liz (01606 75030) if you’re interested.

Doorways

Rev Ian Bishop runs Doorways.  This is a

course which deepens your understanding of

Doctrine and Church History and applies our understanding to faith today.  Contact Ian (01606 833124) if this is for you.

Home Groups

During the last few months regular church members will know that many exciting things have been happening at our churches, not least the opening of Number 28 on a regular basis. One of the things that we have been doing is collecting applications from church members, including many who have joined us in recent months, for the launch of our new Home Groups.

We are officially launching the new Groups during the week beginning Sunday June 6th 2010.  A list of Group members is shown below and copies are included in the June Messenger and at the back of the church. There is a group meeting on Tuesday afternoons, one on Thursday mornings and two on Thursday evenings. There is also a group meeting on Wednesday mornings which is especially for mums accompanied by pre-school children. The evening Groups will generally be meeting once a fortnight, but the daytime Groups may meet more often.

The Groups will be meeting for fellowship and for prayer, but primarily to seek God’s word through Bible study. The study sessions will be based upon the passage which will have been used by the preacher at the Sunday services at the beginning of the week, and so will give members the opportunity to study the implications of these scriptures on modern life in greater depth. I am sure that the Groups will also be organising social events in the true tradition of our church!

At present, as you will see from the list of members, most of the Groups are not in a position to accept more members. But we do realise that others may wish to join the Home Group enterprise, so we are opening a waiting list for new applications with the intention of launching another Group in the autumn. So you can still join us then – but don’t wait too long to apply!!
